Below are some photos of our learning from last week. Alongside our class activities, we have been practising our song to perform to you at our Harvest celebration this Thursday. We hope to see you there!

Week beginning 23rd September 2024

The weeks are already whizzing by, but we are keeping as busy as ever. Take a look at our learning from last week...

Finally....

Here are links to a few sites that could help with your English skills and spelling skills. We tried them out in school, but why not try them at home too? Click on each picture to go to the site. Remember... internet safety...always have a grown up with you when you go online.

Week beginning Monday 16th September 2024

Wow! What a busy first full week we have had. Take a look at some of our learning below.

The home learning grid is now ready and attached below. Aim for 4 challenges during the term to receive a certificate.

Week beginning Monday 9th September 2024

Welcome back to school Fireflies! We hope you had a wonderful summer holiday and are well rested.

This term our theme is 'Our Heroes'.

In History, we will be looking at the lives of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.

Our English lessons will follow a similar 'hero' theme. Here are the books we will use within our learning this term...

In addition to our daily maths and phonic lessons, we will... explore how humans grow and change within our Science sessions, identify how we can keep safe online within Computing, learn about the Christian story of creation within R.E., get creative with collage in our art lessons, find our 'musical heartbeat' during our Charanga music lessons, build our P.E. skills with the Sports Trust coaches...and much, much more!

We are looking forward to a fun but busy term of learning. Check back each week to see photos of our most recent class activities. Here's some of our writing from last week...

Just a few reminders...

Your child is now set up on Bug Club, which you can access at home. Just type in your child's username and password (look inside their reading log book) and you are good to go!

Try to get in the habit of reading for 5 to 10 mins every day to keep your reading skills in tip-top form. Also make time to practice reading and spelling the tricky and high-frequency words. A link to these can be found below and on the home learning pages.

P.E. lessons are on Fridays. Please ensure your child comes to school in their P.E. kit on these days and that earrings are removed.

Please label all items belonging to your child, from jumpers and coats to water bottles and lunch boxes. It helps to reunite lost items with their owners quickly and without upset.

You will find the home learning challenge grid on the home learning page. Try to complete at least 4 challenges during the term. Home learning books will be winging their way home this week. We will ask for books to come in to school on the final week of the term so we can celebrate each child's achievements and award them with a certificate for their efforts.

Maths challenges will also be set weekly by Mrs Chapman (Year 1) and Mrs Walker (Year 2). Again, you can find these on the home learning page.
