Week beginning 11th March
Last week was super busy in Fireflies class, with World Book Day and Mother's Day activities to complete alongside our day to day learning. It's no wonder by the end of the week we were all feeling rather tired!
Week beginning 4th March 2024
It's been another busy week this week in Fireflies class. Come and look at what we have been up to...
Week beginning Monday 26th February 2024
We hope you had a lovely weekend. Take a peek at some of our learning, linked to our new topic, below...
A big welcome back to all our Fireflies and their families.
This term, our wider curriculum theme is...
In Geography we will be honing our map skills, as well as identifying both human and physical geographical features within our local environment. Our local area will also feature heavily in our History sessions this term. We will explore how Cheriton has changed over the years and examine the story behind the development of Kingsnorth Gardens. In Science we will become 'Apprentice Gardeners'; identifying the life-cycle of plants, looking closely at germination and investigating what green plants really need to grow healthily.
Full details of our wider curriculum learning, as well as this term's home learning challenges, will be available soon.
In our English lessons this term, Fireflies will explore a range of genres to develop their writing skills. We will create house adverts, write our own family poems, create a recount of a trip around Cheriton, write our own 'embellished' stories and create instructions to make a cress head. We are going to be busy!
A small plea...
If you have any plain white, plastic yoghurt pots that we can use for our cress head activity please could you send them in this term. We need 30!
A few reminders...
P.E. lessons will continue to be on Wednesdays. Pupils should come to school in their P.E. kits on this day.
We will continue to change books in school twice a week, although children do need to be proactive in asking for their book to be changed! There are always plenty of books on the Bug Club site to try out or your child may enjoy their own books at home.
Please try to hear your child read for at least 5 minutes each day. Record their efforts in the reading log book and take regular opportunities to practise reading and spelling both tricky words and high frequency words. You will find copies of all tricky words and high frequency words below. Can you read and spell ALL the words?
